Dr. Matthew Brady Joins Methodist's Maternal-Fetal Medicine Team

Growing up, Matthew Brady, MD, always looked forward to his interactions with doctors.

“I always remember how good physicians made me feel,” said Dr. Brady, a maternal-fetal medicine specialist at Methodist Women’s Hospital. “Good doctors will not only address your medical concerns, they’ll address all your concerns and comfort you through the process. That’s something that drew me to medicine – having the opportunity to make people feel that way.”

He enjoys the challenge and often necessary collaboration that comes with balancing the care of two patients – Mom and Baby – simultaneously. And he has a particular interest in treating gestational diabetes because of the difference that quality care can make in those patients’ lives.

“There are very few conditions in medicine where we ask a patient to do as much as we do with diabetes,” Dr. Brady said. “Check those sugars multiple times a day. Treat themselves with oral medications or insulin. We ask them to do a lot of monitoring, and that can be incredibly difficult. But the diligence of the patient and provider in staying on top of all those things can have lasting impacts on Mom and Baby.”

He’s proud to be part of a “truly first-class” team at the Methodist Hospital Perinatal Center and, more than anything, he wants his patients to know this: “I can be personable and sometimes goofy. But at the end of the day, I’m very serious about the health of the patient in front of me.”

A self-proclaimed foodie and bourbon enthusiast, Dr. Brady enjoys spending his free time with his wife and two fur babies – Lana and Link. The Omaha native and Husker fan also likes to travel but said fostering close relationships with his friends and family “are what really make me tick.”
