Motorcycle Crash Survivor Returns to Advanced Wound Center to Discuss Crash and Treatment

Published: May 19, 2023

A Bellevue resident who was involved in a serious motorcycle accident in October is back on his bike and reminding other riders about safety gear and riding less recklessly.

Rex Melegrito was riding with friends on a county road near Underwood, Iowa, when he lost control of his bike due to a speed wobble and slid down the road.

Rex was taken to CHI Health Mercy Council Bluffs before being referred to Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital's Advanced Wound Center. With wounds covering over 40% of his body, his treatment there lasted 14 weeks. Today, Rex is back on his bike, and he has nothing but praise for the team that cared for him at the wound center.
