Our 33 weekers

Our story actually started when our OB referred us to the Reproductive Endocrinology office at Methodist Women's. Dr. Oakes was amazing in helping us to be successful in our journey to have more children. After 2 1/2 years we were finally pregnant with our twins.

Our pregnancy was pretty uneventful until 26 weeks when I unexpectedly went in to preterm labor. A gut feeling told me to go in to be checked. That, and the swift and amazing care that I received from my care team at Methodist Women's, put a stop to my labor.

I was on bed rest for the next 7 weeks and went into labor for the last time at 33+1 weeks. Our baby A, Scarlett, spent 32 days in the NICU, and our Baby B, Rayne, spent 47 days in the NICU.

We became very close to our care team and leaned on them to not only take care of our girls, but to help us to know how to take care of ourselves during this time.

Rita, Brandi and Dana were the best nurses we could have asked for in taking care of our girls, along with all of the neonatologists that kept us informed every day. We are grateful for the care that our girls received, and we are grateful for the memories that we will cherish for the rest of our lives.

As any NICU family knows, this will be the scariest roller coaster of your life, but you will leave with some of the best memories.
