An open letter to the staff at Methodist Hospital

I was a patient in your facility from June 30 to July 1.

My care began with Katie Salk, my ED nurse, and Dr. Frederick Raiser.  They listened to me and my long, complicated history and took me seriously. I appreciate their knowledge and expertise and how they saw me through until my admission to 8 South.

It was a difficult stay for me, filled with long delays, consults and family docs who didn't return pages, but through it all, I knew that Zach was checking on me to see if he could help make me comfortable.

I was immediately met in my room by the night charge, who made sure I was settled, and then my nurse Shauna Hildabrand and tech Arika Maresch. They took great care of me overnight and let me know what the plan was for my admission.

I'd also like to recognize my day nurse Kimmie Pham and tech Zach Newman. It was a difficult stay for me, filled with long delays, consults and family docs who didn't return pages, but through it all, I knew that Zach was checking on me to see if he could help make me comfortable. 

Also, Kimmie trying everything she could to keep the ball rolling. Her cheery demeanor made me feel like she genuinely cared about me and why I was there. She has a very bright future ahead of her.

Lastly, I wanted to give a "Bah Hahbah" shout out to the unit secretary, Connie Peterson, from Boston who greeted my husband in the Maine t-shirt Saturday morning. Nothing makes you feel close to home more than hearing a New Englander drop her Rs.
