Official Title

Managing Fatigue Using Virtual Reality For Post-Operative Lung Cancer Patients: Understanding The Post-Surgical Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer Patient's Symptom Experience. 

Study Purpose

To help us understand the symptom experience of pre- and post-surgical lung cancer patients.

To help assess effects of physical activity on a symptom in post-surgical lung cancer patients.

To assess the impact of the study and the participants satisfaction and participation level.

Diagnosis

Patients scheduled for surgery of the lung for possible lung cancer.

Eligibility

Scheduled for lung cancer surgery

Intervention

Arm A:   Support Education Activity Program Group-Phone calls once a week for 6 weeks with research nurse from UNMC

Arm B:  Light Physical Activity Program Group 1—Participate in light physical activity up to 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week for 6 weeks—with an option to continue on for an additional 6 weeks.  This group will begin physical activity 1 week post-discharge from the hospital after surgery.

Arm C:  Light Physical Activity Program Group 2—Participate in light physical activity up to 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week for 6 weeks.  This group will begin physical activity approximately 7 weeks post-discharge from the hospital.
