Healthy Recipe: Open-Faced Tuna Salad Sandwich With Sliced Apple

Whether it’s for a quick lunch or snack, this recipe cuts the calories while letting you get your tuna fix.

Serves three

 

Ingredients

Tuna salad

1 6.5 ounce can water-packed tuna, drained

¼ cup plain low-fat yogurt

2 teaspoons prepared mustard

1 teaspoon dried dill

¼ cup diced celery

¼ cup diced cucumber

Ground black pepper, as desired

Other

1 Granny Smith apple, sliced

3 slices whole-grain bread, toasted if desired

 

Directions

Cut apple, celery and cucumber as instructed above. Drain tuna. Place tuna salad ingredients into a bowl and mix well. Spread ½ cup of the tuna salad on one slice of bread, then top with sliced apple.
