Dayna Akakpo Joins Staff at Methodist Hospital Community Counseling ProgramPublished: Nov. 8, 2021
Dayna Akakpo, LMHP, prides herself on being empathetic, open-minded and ready to guide clients as they pursue their goals through counseling.
“I enjoy witnessing the resiliency of people and being a part of their healing journey,” said Akakpo, a counselor who has joined the Methodist Hospital Community Counseling Program.
She has experience working with individuals impacted by domestic violence, sexual assault and human trafficking, and she enjoys teaching her clients dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) skills.
Above all, she’s committed to listening to clients without judgment and providing trauma-informed care.
“To me, The Meaning of Care means treating all people with respect, listening to the person and their wants and needs, and tailoring services based on that,” she said.
When she’s not assisting clients, Akakpo enjoys spending time with her spouse, two children and Shih Tzu mix, Oreo. They love taking walks and watching movies. She’s also a fan of “all things related to the ‘90s.”
