It’s arguably one of the most urgent and important health care issues facing our nation today. Alzheimer’s disease is a devastating illness that challenges both its victims and their families.

It’s currently ranked as the sixth leading cause of death among Americans, but some estimates actually rank it as third, right behind heart disease and cancer. The Alzheimer’s Association estimates one in every nine older Americans has the disease, affecting approximately 5 million people over the age of 65.
