Omaha World-Herald: Omaha No. 1 in Improving Affordability of Health Care

Published: June 5, 2015

The Omaha metro area ranked No. 1 among 35 cities in improving the affordability of medical care over a one-year period, according to a report released this week.

Officials from the area’s main health systems cheered the results provided by California-based Castlight Health and used the news to tout efforts they are making to diminish costs and improve quality.

A Castlight analyst, Sophie Pinkard, agreed that the report is good news for Omaha. Castlight said wage growth in the Omaha-Council Bluffs area outstripped health-care inflation by a bigger margin than in any other metro area.

Linda Burt, Methodist Health System CFO, offered some insight as to how Methodist has controlled costs in this Omaha World-Herald story by Rick Ruggles.
