Lung Cancer Survivor

"Don't take any moment of life for granted," says Steve Malcolm. When Steve's family practice physician, Steven Osborn, MD, discovered a fist-sized lung tumor, Steve turned to the Methodist Lung/Thoracic Oncology Clinic, where caring and skillful specialists — including medical oncologist Stephen Lemon, MD, and cardiovascular surgeon Tracy Dorheim, MD — unite to develop individualized treatment plans. Steve's care, like that of many Methodist patients, included participation in a National Cancer Institute-approved treatment trial.

A man of deep faith and great wit, Steve calls his cancer diagnosis an answer to his prayers to break a 30-year smoking habit. Now cancer-free, Steve is an avid cyclist and non-smoking advocate enjoying his second chance at life.
