Cody Mitchell, LIMHP, believes that anything worth doing is worth doing well. That includes counseling clients through the Methodist Hospital Community Counseling Program.

“I strive to be authentic in my words and actions in order to build a relationship,” he said. “The trip taken in counseling is a very personal one.”

When seeing clients, Mitchell often employs cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) – “but there’s no one-size-fits-all solution for therapy,” he said. He enjoys serving clients of all ages but said he’s particularly honored to have the opportunity to work with underserved juveniles in public school settings.

“I love seeing the small changes in people and, in turn, witnessing them have more peace,” he said. “It always means so much when you ask someone about the changes they’re going through, and they just light up, knowing that there’s light at the end of the tunnel.”

Mitchell is proud to be part of a health system that’s committed to improving physical and mental health by delivering The Meaning of Care.

“The Meaning of Care, to me, is a calling,” he said. “You can proclaim to be this or that, but to define it through your actions and be that example to others is what it’s all about.”
