Charge Nurse

Erika Newill, LPN, has long been passionate about caring for geriatric patients. A Fremont native and mother of three, Newill loves her role as charge nurse at Dunklau Gardens and the “family feel” that’s helped her build relationships with residents, their families and her co-workers.

Newill has been in health care for over 15 years, first as a certified nursing assistant. Wanting to further her education, she went on to become a medication aide, an assisted living facilities administrator and a licensed practical nurse – a step that allowed her compassion and empathy to shine with more geriatric care opportunities. Noting that nursing is complex and always changing, Newill said she’s always learning and challenging herself. She plans to become a registered nurse.
