Gene Herbek, MD, FCAP, was a respected pathologist at Methodist Hospital for nearly 20 years as well as a beloved husband, father and friend. His passing in 2020 was a tremendous loss for his loved ones, patients and colleagues.
Dr. Herbek, a former president of the College of American Pathologists (CAP), was dedicated to laboratory excellence and demonstrated an unfailing kindness that has inspired pathologists around the world. His passion for pathology was matched by his commitment to caring for patients.
Together with his wife, Jean, Dr. Herbek founded the See, Test & Treat program through the CAP Foundation. See, Test & Treat brings cervical and breast cancer screenings to women in underserved communities, with exams, tests and results provided on the same day.
Methodist and the CAP Foundation invite you to join us for the Herbek Hustle: Strike for a Cause event on Oct. 10 at Maplewood Lanes. Proceeds from the event will support See, Test & Treat as well as the Methodist Hospital Medical Laboratory Science Program, including the Dr. Jerry Schenken & Dr. Gene Herbek Memorial Scholarship.
Gather your crew and let’s lace up those bowling shoes to help strike out cancer!
