Clinical Nurse Educator - NICU
Erica Faulkner, MSN, RNC-LRN, is a NICU-focused clinical nurse educator with the Methodist Women’s Hospital Outreach program. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Texas at Arlington in May 2008 and her Master of Science in Nursing at Nebraska Methodist College in 2022.
Faulkner has spent her entire nursing career caring for moms and babies. She was in college majoring in journalism when she witnessed her friend giving birth and immediately knew that she was being called into nursing. Her love for maternal newborn nursing has only grown since then.
“I began my career as a postpartum nurse, providing care to moms and their babies,” she said. “I then got a job in a newborn nursery and realized how much more complex newborn care could be. When we moved from Texas to Nebraska in 2015, I accepted a job in the NICU at Methodist Women’s Hospital and was hooked! I love those tiny miracles and feel so privileged to be a small part of their stories.”
In her role with the outreach program, Faulkner creates and facilitates curriculum for employees of Methodist Health System as well as staff at nearby hospitals.
“I have a strong passion for education,” said Faulkner, who also teaches for the undergraduate nursing program at Nebraska Methodist College. “As much as I love being a NICU nurse and spending time educating families on how to care for their new baby, I also love being able to teach others how to do what I do best. As a NICU nurse, I have the opportunity to positively impact the lives of my patients. As an educator, I have the opportunity to share my love of nursing and multiply that impact exponentially.”
Faulkner and her husband have four children. She enjoys spending time with her family, attending her kids’ school and sporting events, traveling, and crafting.
