1 Year Later, Omaha Family Reflects on Intense COVID Experience

It’s been a month of milestones for the Ashlee and Josh Laux: The couple’s 10th anniversary, baby Gavin’s first birthday and the one-year anniversary of Ashlee being taken off a ventilator at Methodist Hospital. 

In late April 2021, Ashlee became sick with COVID-19. As her condition worsened, her Methodist care team did all it could – delivering Gavin at 30 weeks before rushing Ashlee to the Methodist Hospital Critical Care Unit. Ashlee was discharged after 11 days at the hospital, and Gavin spent 59 days in the NICU, but one year later the family looks back with a new perspective on life and deep gratitude toward Methodist.
