Breast Cancer Efforts Find Success This Year

One might say the public support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month continues to be in the pink.

"I think it was a great and successful year,” said Tara Slevin, vice president of development and volunteer services for the Jennie Edmundson Foundation. “Even with the crazy weather, we had a great time and raised a lot of funds. We still have groups selling T-shirts.”

The local celebration of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, held every October and sometimes referred to as Pink-Out, was larger this year because of new activities, Slevin said.

One of them involved the selling of pink T-shirts at Harrah’s Stir Concert Cove on Oct. 5 and 6 that raised $3,000, Slevin said.
