Fremont Health Care Heroes Honored for Pandemic Fight

As Methodist Fremont Health’s health care heroes fought back against the COVID-19 pandemic, community members asked how they could say thank you. 

“We received such tremendous support from the public throughout the pandemic,” said Shawn Shanahan, executive director of development and community health for the Fremont Health Foundation. “People were calling to express their concern for our staff and asking what they could do to support them.”

Inspired by the number of calls, the Foundation joined Methodist Health System’s celebration of Health Care Week in May by providing the community with an opportunity to honor a Methodist Fremont Health staff member or department through a donation to the Foundation. 

“We put this fundraising effort together to allow spouses, friends and neighbors to recognize the Fremont health care heroes who have impacted them,” Shanahan said. “Employees from every part of Methodist Fremont Health – in the hospital, Dunklau Gardens and clinics – stepped up to take care of the community and their coworkers. This was a way for individuals to express their gratitude and support.”
