Getting through the holidays without the weight gain

On Thanksgiving and during the 10 days after Christmas, Americans will pack on the most weight of the year.

With all that holiday food goodness, it's easy to understand why. But the temptation doesn't have to turn into pounds.

Brenda Herrod, a nurse practitioner at Methodist, said if you're on track and staying healthy 90 percent of the time, that 10 percent indulgence in your favorite small dessert isn't going to ruin you.
