Hospitals in Nebraska and Iowa See Progress Against Opioid Problem

Published: July 8, 2019

The focused work by Nebraska hospitals to reduce their opioid use deserves applause.

During 2013-18, Nebraska health systems lowered opioid prescriptions by some 32%.

Nationwide, 43,036 Americans died from painkiller overdoses in 2017, a figure exceeding the toll from car-crash fatalities.
