Hospitals Reach Out, Offer Help For Nurses

It used to be common for people to study nursing at a hospital and then, if possible, stay and start their careers there.

Deb Simonin grew up in Oakland and attended nursing school at Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital. Though nursing jobs were scarce at that time, she was able to stay on at Jennie.

“I had worked in the ICU, and they offered me a position there,” she said. “There were too many nurses when I started, so I felt kind of lucky to get a position.”
