'It's Really, Really Important for Me': Metro Patients Struggle to Find Diabetes Drugs Due to Off-Brand Prescriptions

Drugs like Ozempic and Mounjaro, used to treat type 2 diabetes, have been gaining a lot of popularity,with people getting prescribed them to lose weight. But several people with type 2 diabetes here in the metro are struggling to find the injectable for their medical needs.

Dr. Avin Pothuloori with Methodist Health System said a lot of his patients are struggling to find the injections.

"We've basically just had to wait until the supply is improved. Their diabetes gets worse. We try to put them on other diabetes medications in the meantime," Pothuloori said.
