Jennie Edmundson Hospital Earns Cancer Accreditation

Published: March 28, 2019

The Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons has granted renewed three-year accreditation to the cancer program at Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital. The Cancer Center at Jennie Edmundson is the only site in western Iowa that has been accredited continuously since 1995.

"This accreditation is vital as we continue to improve our already excellent patient care,” said Steve Baumert, president and CEO of Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital. “It also gives patients peace of mind, knowing they have access to new treatments, genetic counseling, psychosocial support and a survivorship care plan. Simply put, this ensures that their care doesn’t end when their treatment does.”

To earn voluntary CoC accreditation, a cancer program must meet or exceed 34 CoC quality care standards, be evaluated every three years through a survey process and maintain levels of excellence in the delivery of comprehensive patient-centered care.
