Long-time volunteer turning 100, still going strong

When she was born the average life expectancy was only about 50 years. Almost a century later Velma McElderry keeps herself busy by volunteering at a Council Bluffs hospital.

If you walk in the gift shop door at Methodist Jennis Edmundson hospital you may hear her laughing or talking with a customer.

People are just shocked that I can even handle this register," she told WOWT 6 News.
