Methodist Designated as Primary Stroke Center

Published: July 17, 2017

Thirteen Nebraska hospitals have been designated primary stroke centers by the state as part of an effort to create a statewide system for stroke treatment with the goal of providing timely treatment and better outcomes for stroke patients.

Methodist was among those making the list.

A law establishing Nebraska’s stroke system took effect Jan. 1.

The state joins 17 others plus the District of Columbia in having state-legislated systems that designate hospitals according to their ability to provide various elements of stroke treatment and that establish protocols to help emergency responders evaluate patients and select the hospital that can provide the appropriate level of care.
