Methodist donates toward buddy bench program

Elkhorn elementary schools are turning an everyday object into a symbol of kindness and inclusion.

Each school will soon have a “buddy bench.”

“It’s a means for someone to indicate that they are feeling left out, or sad or need a friend,” said Andrea Abrahamson, a founding member of the Elkhorn Optimist Club. “If somebody is sitting on the buddy bench, (kids) go over and ask them if they want to play.”

Methodist Health System donated funds for the buddy bench located at Fire Ridge Elementary School.
