Congratulations to Bradley Craig, ADN, RN, a registered nurse in the Emergency Department at Methodist Fremont Health, for being honored with The DAISY Award.

Craig's nominator wrote that he is, “without question, the most extraordinary nurse.”

More from the nomination:

“I came to the hospital on a Sunday, in the early weeks of pregnancy, experiencing bleeding. My heart was heavy, not only with the fear of what was happening in that moment, but also with the memory of a prior loss. Every ‘what if’ ran through my mind. I was vulnerable, anxious and unsure if I could bear another disappointment. It would have been easy in the busy, often rushed atmosphere of the ER to hurry me through, check my vitals and move on to the next patient. But Bradley did the opposite. He slowed down. He gave me his full attention. He made me feel like I was the only person who mattered in that moment.

“From the moment he entered the room, his calm presence wrapped around me like a comforting blanket. He didn’t just treat me as a patient on a chart. He treated me as a person, a mother and a woman carrying fear, hope and fragile emotions all at once. He sat at my bedside, looked me in the eyes and truly listened. He didn’t just answer medical questions; he listened to my fears, my anxieties and even the silent terror I couldn’t put into words. He saw me as a fearful mother, carrying both hope and pain in the same fragile heart, and he reminded me gently that it was OK to feel all of it, to cry, to worry, to hope and to be afraid all at once. His words, his calm presence and the time he took to care for me quieted my racing thoughts and brought a peace I didn’t know I could feel in an ER.

“Bradley went above and beyond in every way. He returned to my room multiple times, always bringing the same warmth, patience and genuine concern. He made sure every single question was answered, no matter how many times I asked. He reminded me to take care of myself and my baby, emotionally and physically, and he gave me the reassurance that I was not alone in that terrifying moment. Those words were lifelines. They anchored me when fear threatened to overwhelm me.

“What makes Bradley truly remarkable is that I know he treats every patient with this level of care. In a place where the pace is fast and the pressure is high, he slows down. He takes time. He gives the gift of presence, patience and compassion, and that is exactly what I needed that day.”
