Congratulations to Annie Schacht, BSN, RN, OCN, a registered nurse in the Critical Care Unit at Methodist Hospital, for being honored with The DAISY Award. She was nominated by a patient, who wrote:

“I was intubated for five days. Annie was the first person I remember seeing and hearing when waking up. Annie took the time to know all the basics about me prior to me waking up. She helped me regain orientation and alertness, and constantly reassured and encouraged me that I would live and improve in health. I am currently a nursing student and have worked at various hospitals as a tech: ICU, PICU, NICU, CVICU, and so many more. I have never seen a nurse so attentive and interactive with their patient and all family that visited. ... I felt so anxious and nervous, and Annie made me feel at ease. My mother is a nurse and worked on CVICU, has her master’s degree and has countless hours of experience in all fields of health care. And when I looked at her, she was at complete ease of mind because of Annie, and that meant the world to me that not only could she calm my mother but me as well. Words can’t describe how grateful I am for my care at Methodist.”
