Congratulations to Briana Finch, RN, a registered nurse in the Medical-Surgical Unit at Methodist Hospital, for being honored with The DAISY Award. Her nominator wrote:

"Having recently been diagnosed with breast cancer at age 40, my husband and I were devastated. If that wasn’t enough, the same day we learned of the cancer, I also suffered a punctured appendix and other severe abdominal complications that led to a pair of surgeries and a difficult inpatient recovery process. When you stay at the hospital for a couple weeks, you get to know a lot of nurses and support staff. None provided more technical expertise and demonstrated more knowledge, ability and passion for their mission or compassion for those in need than Briana F. When we were at our lowest, Briana gave us hope. When we couldn’t care for ourselves, Briana cared for us. When we couldn’t advocate for ourselves, Briana advocated for us. Briana was our light in a dark time, our encourager and our caretaker. Briana cares deeply for her patients and has a heart for people that’s contagious. We wish all nurses had her nature abilities and her authenticity. Please give our deepest thanks to Briana for all that she is and has done for us.”
