Congratulations to Darri Ann Perez, BSN, RN, for being honored with The DAISY Award. The Nebraska Methodist College graduate is a registered nurse in the Oncology Unit at Methodist Hospital. Her nominator wrote:

“Darri Ann took care of our sister during her last night at Methodist while awaiting a room at the Hospice House. My two sisters and I did not want to leave our big sister's side, and the room she was moved into was quite a bit smaller than her room she transferred from. Darri Ann immediately got to work requesting an additional recliner and a cot so that we could all stay with her that night. When she was told a recliner wasn't available, she went to another floor to find one from an empty room. Darri Ann was so sweet and gentle with our sister, who had begun to have end-stage cancer pain. While we were resting during the night, we could hear Darri Ann whispering so sweetly to our sister about everything she was doing to her to keep her informed and try to minimize her pain. While we only had Darri Ann as a nurse for one night, she made a lasting impact on our family, and we still talk about her to this day. We can't say enough about the care she received.”
