Methodist Hospital’s Joslynn Afrank honored with The DAISY Award

Congratulations to Joslynn Afrank, BSN, RN, MEDSURG-BC, for being honored with The DAISY Award. Afrank, a registered nurse on the Medical-Surgical Unit at Methodist Hospital, is a Nebraska Methodist College alumna.
Her nominator, a former colleague, wrote:
“We had a patient on our unit for about a month, and she was nonverbal, wheelchair-bound and disabled. The patient would often cry because she didn't want to be alone. Every time Joslynn worked, she would get the patient out of bed and into her chair right away. When the patient came in, her hair was extremely matted, and Joslynn took the time over several days working on her hair to get the matting out. The patient became very fond of Joslynn and would smile when she would see her. Joslynn stationed her computer outside of her room and put the patient in her wheelchair in the hall with her so she didn't have to be alone. Joslynn wheeled her around the unit, washed her hair in the room, made her laugh and just took exceptional care of this patient while she was on our unit. She went above and beyond with her every shift.”
