Methodist Physicians Clinic Pediatrics Providing Books Through Reach Out and Read

A new chapter has begun on pediatric care in Council Bluffs.

The Methodist Physicians Clinic Pediatrics recently joined a nationwide program called Reach Out and Read that gives young children a foundation for success by incorporating books into pediatric care and encouraging families to read aloud together every day.

“We care about literacy,” Dr. Heidi Killefer said at a Tuesday event introducing the program to the public.

As part of the program, Killefer and other pediatricians at the clinic are now handing out age-appropriate books to parents during their children’s wellness visits as a new way to improve literacy in their children.
