Middle school students gain hands-on health care experience at Nebraska Methodist College summer camp

Published: July 22, 2024

Nebraska Methodist College recently hosted a health care summer camp, offering middle school students a hands-on experience in the field.

"The juice is dripping, the outside is pretty hard," said the campers who were exposed to the intricacies of the heart through virtual reality and also dissected a sheep heart in the Anatomy and Physiology Lab.

The students also had the opportunity to work with surgery techs and participate in a relay race to get surgery ready.

The camp aims to address the shortage of health care workers in recent years by sparking interest in the field at a young age.
