Registered nurse Haiden Brand, 24, was driving home about 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 30 when a crash happened in front of her on westbound I-80 near 72nd Street.

She got out of her car and tended to a 60-year-old man whose car was wedged between a semitrailer and a concrete median. He forced his way out of his car, which was totaled, and wasn’t physically hurt.

”I will never be able to drive up on an accident,” Joe said, “and not think of how I might be of help to someone else — and that is all thanks to Haiden.

Haiden Brand is a NICU nurse at Methodist Women's Hospital.
