Janet McAdams, AA, CST, the program director of Surgical Technology at Nebraska Methodist College (NMC), was honored as the 2025 Nebraska State Surgical Technologist of the Year. The award, given annually by the Nebraska State Assembly of the Association of Surgical Technologists, recognizes surgical technicians who embody true excellence in the field.

McAdams has spent 28 years in Surgical Technology at Methodist. She spent 18 years working in surgery, spent five years as NMC’s Surgical Technology clinical coordinator and is in her fifth year as the program director.

McAdams was nominated by Shaunie Allen (above left), the surgical technology clinical coordinator at NMC.

“I’m truly honored to have been nominated by Shaunie and selected by the Nebraska State Assembly Board,” McAdams said. “It has been a privilege to spend the past 28 years both practicing and educating in the field of surgical technology. I consider it the most rewarding and impactful career in health care.”

Kendra Craven, EdD, MA (above right), the dean of Health Professions at NMC, coordinated a surprise award presentation and arranged for McAdams' family to attend.
