Online Pricing Now Required by Hospitals

Published: Jan. 3, 2019

Thanks to a new law, you can now find how much a certain procedure would cost at the hospital online.

However, what the hospital posts may not actually be what you pay.

A new rule issued by The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid (CMS), which took effect Jan. 1, requires hospitals to publish a list of their standard charges on the internet.

They must present the information in a machine-readable format that can be easily imported into a computer system and update the information at least annually.
