Spring breezes will set hundreds of pinwheels spinning Saturday morning during a joint Council Bluffs-Omaha celebration of Child Abuse Prevention Month.

The fourth annual Pinwheels for Prevention will begin at 10 a.m. at the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge. Council Bluffs participants will meet at 9:30 a.m. at nearby Tom Hanafan River’s Edge Park.

The event will begin at both ends of the bridge as Council Bluffs Mayor Matt Walsh and Omaha Mayor Jean Stothert, along with the public, ceremoniously plant blue pinwheels at the entrances, then move to the center for a joint proclamation of Child Abuse Prevention Month.

Jean Armstrong of the Shaken Baby Task Force and Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital, told the Daily Nonpareil that chid abuse is 100 percent preventable
