Prescription Drug Monitoring Enhanced in Nebraska

Published: Feb. 12, 2018

Say you land in an emergency room outside your regular health system, suffering from chest pain. You can’t remember the name or dosage of the blood pressure medications you take, and your usual pharmacy is closed.

Before this year, that might have been a problem. But a change in Nebraska’s statewide prescription database that just took effect means your prescription information should be on file to help the ER doctors provide the proper care.

Since Jan. 1, the database includes all prescriptions dispensed to any Nebraska address, no matter which doctor prescribed the medicine, or which pharmacy filled it.
