Science Cafe: Skin Cancer & Tanning Beds

Published: May 11, 2015

May is Skin Cancer Awareness Month, the perfect time to remember that protecting your skin is in. Tanning is out -- even though teenagers are inundated with messages encouraging them to perfect their skin tone with a “healthy glow” before prom and the summer season.

Learn more at "The Bed Is Dead: Addressing Indoor Tanning Among Teens," the next Science Café, on Tuesday, May 19, 6 – 7 p.m., at Barley’s Bar and Grill, 114 W. Broadway in Council Bluffs. Free pizza is available.

This Science Café will feature representatives from the Nebraska Cancer Coalition.

Co-sponsored by Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital, The Daily Nonpareil and Barley’s, Science Cafés are casual, face-to-face conversations on current issues led by a doctor, scientist or professional in the field.
