Shock to the heart, locating a life-saving device

Published: May 17, 2017

The scenario was simple: You're in a business, it looks like someone is having a heart attack and the AED (automated external defibrillator) is needed, can you find it?

An AED is a portable device that delivers an electric shock through the chest to the heart. The shock will hopefully restore a heart to it’s normal rhythm.

AED's are commonly placed in businesses and public places for use if needed in an emergency situation.

Jillian Sisson, dean of professional development/community partnerships at Nebraska Methodist College, encourages everyone to locate the AED when entering any public location.
