"You have to have a calm demeanor, stay in the moment and not get too overwhelmed,” she said.
Patients of McCarthy in the progressive care unit at Methodist Hospital, one step down from ICU, don’t know they’re being cared for by one of the best bowlers in the world.
But her schedule at Methodist allows McCarthy to travel to tournaments two to three times a month.
That jumps to every weekend when she competes on the PWBA Tour over the summer.
