Thanks for all the "Support"
Record donation
Throughout the month of October, Methodist asked women to help offer some “support” for a good cause – collecting new and gently-used bras for women in need. Patients, friends and Methodist staff came through in a big way, bringing in more than 615 brassieres. That number beats last year’s total by more than a hundred!
Where the donations go
The bras were collected and counted, and will now be sent to the Open Door Mission Lydia House in Omaha. It’s a place of shelter and healing for women and children who are victims of domestic abuse. Lydia’s House provides a critical stepping stone between emergency shelter and safe, independent living, offering resources and programming to help women make it on their own.
Dr. Tifany Somer-Shely began the bra collection in 2016. “Having properly fitting undergarments may seem like such a little thing,” said Dr. Somer-Shely, “but it goes so far in boosting self-confidence and self-esteem for those who wear them.”
