'We Need Your Help': Omaha Doctors Plead With Nebraskans To Get Vaccinated

Published: Dec. 2, 2021

During a media event Wednesday, several Nebraska physicians worked to dispel the myth that the COVID-19 pandemic is slowing down, when in fact it's still surging. As of this week, Nebraska's COVID-19 hospitalizations are the highest they have been this year.

"Every single person in our ICU is a COVID patient," Methodist pulmonologist Adam Wells, MD, said.

Dr. Wells, Methodist Hospital's ICU medical director, joined other experts to update the public on what they're seeing in their hospitals – and stress that unvaccinated people are 10 times more likely to be hospitalized with COVID-19.

"We're inundated. We're struggling to take care of the people who come to our hospitals," Wells said.
