Frequently asked questions
We know that time spent at a hospital can be emotional, hectic and confusing. We’re honored to care for our patients and guide their loved ones through every step of the rehabilitation process at our center.
No detail is too small for our patients and guests. With that in mind, here are some of the most common questions that our admissions coordinators and other staff members are asked.
What are the rehabilitation center’s visiting hours?
Visiting hours are from 5 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. We recommend that visitors plan to come in the afternoon, after therapy has ended for the day.
When and how often does therapy occur? Can family be present for therapy sessions?
Patients have therapy for three hours a day, five days a week. Therapy typically occurs between the hours of 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. Family members may be present, but they aren’t required.
Do patients need to bring their own medications?
After reviewing a patient’s records, the hospital pharmacy will supply their medications unless they’re prescribed a medication we don't carry. In that case, a patient may bring it in for pharmacy staff to verify and to be administered by a registered nurse.
Can family members stay overnight with a patient?
We typically encourage family members and caregivers to return home at night so they can properly care for themselves while their loved one is hospitalized. We do allow one support person to stay overnight in a patient’s room, typically as the patient is nearing discharge and a loved one is preparing for their care after leaving the hospital.
Can a patient’s rehabilitation schedule be modified to meet their preferences?
Absolutely! Just let any rehabilitation center staff member know that you’d like to make changes.
Is therapy provided individually or in a group setting?
Therapy is provided individually, either in a patient’s room or elsewhere in the rehabilitation center.
Can a patient leave the center with a family member or health care partner?
Your rehab provider will determine if it’s safe to leave the rehabilitation center. Please let your nurse know if you’d like to leave to visit the hospital’s gift shop, cafe, outdoor spaces or other areas.
How will my team involve me in discharge planning?
Team meetings are held weekly in the patient’s room and include discussions on discharge planning. The patient’s health care partner is encouraged to attend and will be notified of the time of the meeting. If they can’t physically attend, they can participate by phone. If the health care partner isn’t involved in the meeting, a staff member will call them afterward.
Can a patient bring a pet to the rehabilitation center to visit?
There are occasions when pets are allowed to visit patients. Speak with your nurse for more information.
Should I bring money and valuables to the rehabilitation center?
We prefer that patients don’t have money or valuables while admitted. If a patient is unable to send these items home with loved ones, we can arrange for our security team to secure them until discharge.
What if a patient isn’t making progress toward their goals?
If a patient isn’t making progress, alternate discharge options will be discussed with them and their health care partner.
