Woman Credits Apple Watch With Saving Her Life
Published: Oct. 25, 2018An Omaha woman said she bought an Apple Watch a year ago to track her daily steps. But it turned out to be more than a fitness device.
Quite simply it saved my life," said Vicki Anderson.
She returned home from work a few weeks ago feeling dizzy. She said all she wanted to do was take a nap. She realizes now, she would have fallen asleep and never woke up.
Then she remembered the Apple Watch she was wearing. She realized it had a heart rate monitor built into it. Her heart rate was so high, the watch sent an alert to her phone.
The heart monitor read 210 beats per minute. Methodist Health System electrophysiologist, Dr. Matthew Latacha, said an elevated heart rate that high, which doesn't slow down, is a sign of trouble.
