Women leading the way in healthcare: Josie Abboud featured in Midlands Business Journal

Published: Oct. 14, 2026

Five local healthcare executives in Omaha guide strategy, shape workplace culture and influence outcomes for tens of thousands of patients — and each took a different path to get there.

Josie Abboud, president and CEO of Methodist Health System, said her nursing background taught her how to make decisions in complex situations.

“Those experiences also reinforced lessons that continue to guide me as an executive leader: the importance of patient-centered care, the value of teamwork, the ability to recognize subtle changes before they become larger challenges and the need to remain calm and focused when the stakes are high,” she said.

She also acknowledged that she misses working in direct care, but she sees her leadership role as a different way to foster favorable patient outcomes.

“Supporting those who provide care every day allows us to positively impact far more patients and communities than I ever could individually,” Abboud said.
