Tick Population and Risk for Lyme Disease Growing in Omaha as Weather Warms Up

With earlier warm temperatures this year, people are encountering ticks as they head outdoors.

There’s a variety of species of ticks, but only black-legged ticks, also called deer ticks, carry the specific bacteria that can transmit Lyme disease.

Methodist Physicians Clinic infectious disease specialist Rudolf Kotula, MD, discusses symptoms of Lyme disease as well as the risks associated with it.
