Methodist Program Offers Free CNA Training, Position at Methodist Hospital

Published: May 19, 2021

Methodist Health System has noticed the need for more health care workers and is now offering free training to people who want to get involved in becoming certified nursing assistants (CNA).

Interest in Methodist's Student Nursing Assistant Program, which also includes employment at Methodist Hospital, is already growing as more people are switching career paths to help health care workers during the pandemic.

Joey Gardner, RN, Nebraska Methodist College's program coordinator for short career courses, discusses the new program, and Calandra Cooper, CNA, discusses her journey to the Methodist Hospital Short Stay Unit.

"There was an extreme shortage in health care, a shortage not only with nurses but also with CNAs, so I was fulfilling a need," Cooper said.
