9 Methodist Orthopedic Specialists Join MD West One, Open New Orthopedic Urgent Care

The physicians of Methodist Physicians Clinic Orthopedics are joining MD West ONE on March 1, 2020, to provide the most advanced, efficient and cost-effective orthopedic, neurosurgery and spine care to greater Omaha. The expanded MD West ONE practice will be composed of nine neurosurgery and spine specialists and 23 orthopedic specialists.

Methodist Hospital has been a proud partner with the physicians of MD West ONE and Midwest Surgical Hospital for more than 11 years.

“There began to be discussions over how can we better work together, and how can we better meet the needs of our patients who are in need of orthopedic, neurosurgery and spine care,” explained Josie Abboud, president and CEO of Methodist Hospital and Methodist Women’s Hospital. 

A partnership formed between Methodist and MD West ONE has the purpose of “building a center of excellence for patients across the region,” said Chuck Livingston, CEO of MD West ONE and Midwest Surgical Hospital. “We’re combining our expertise and resources to give patients in greater Omaha expanded access to specialists while improving patient quality care and reducing costs.”

Both MPC Orthopedics and MD West ONE will continue their clinic practice at their current locations. MD West One will lease the current MPC Orthopedic clinic space at Methodist Physicians Clinic HealthWest and also continue its clinic practice at its current sites.

Methodist Physicians Clinic HealthWest will also become home to a new Urgent Care location operated by MD West ONE to provide emergent orthopedic care. 

“We’re giving patients direct access to our team of specialists so they can avoid generating unnecessary expenses at an emergency department or general urgent care,” said Dr. Kayvon Izadi, one of the upper extremity specialists joining MD West ONE.

Discussions between Methodist and MD West ONE are underway regarding a single medical office building that will be constructed for future clinical operations with an attached ambulatory surgical center and orthopedic urgent care.
