Why is the primary care service line so important to Methodist and our community? How does it contribute to The Meaning of Care?
The primary care service line is very important as it serves as a starting place into the health system for many people. Patients feel comfortable seeing their primary care provider. They also trust that their primary care provider is going to recommend what’s best for them, from initiating preventative measures to referring them to a specialist, when needed. Primary care contributes to The Meaning of Care by being there for patients and ensuring that they’re getting the care they need to be the best version of themselves.
Why is this service line so near and dear to you?
Primary care is important to me because I feel that it’s important to address a patient’s concerns in a timely manner to ensure faster healing, prevent complications and overall make them feel better. This is especially true when parents bring in kids for acute illnesses or injuries. Parents often feel better if they can have their children seen soon after symptoms start. I enjoy being able to provide that timeliness. Knowing that I can help someone in need is very rewarding for me.
Tell us about your role and responsibilities.
My main role is to see patients for acute care visits. This includes people of all ages. My role allows patients to get an appointment quickly to have their acute care concerns addressed and treated. This is very satisfying for patients and can reduce complications.
What do you enjoy most about the team you’re a part of?
There are many things that I enjoy about my team. We’re a hard-working group that prioritizes our patients to make sure that they’re well cared for, and that’s important to me.
Why and when did you come to Methodist? Why have you stayed?
I came to Methodist after graduating nurse practitioner school in 2021. I grew up in a small town. I thought this would be a good fit for me and a way for me to help in the community. I have stayed at Methodist because of the patients and the people I work with.
What does The Meaning of Care mean to you?
To me, The Meaning of Care, means doing my best to work with patients to establish a plan that’s individualized. It means being compassionate, kind, caring and respectful. For me, this includes taking time to truly listen to the patient’s concerns, answering their questions and following up with them.
What’s the best thing about your role at Methodist?
I like getting to know families and helping each individual in a family, if needed. Another great part of my role is the team I work with. I have a great team that helps support me and works hard to care for our patients.
What do you enjoy outside of your time in the clinic?
Outside of the office, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. As a family, we enjoy spending time outdoors, fishing and going to the zoo.
