Dr. Adam Cloos joins Methodist's general and bariatric surgical teams

Published: Nov. 1, 2026

Growing up around carpenters and mechanics, Adam Cloos, MD, always loved working with his hands – a knack that eventually led him to the operating room.

He immediately connected with the surgeons he trained under during medical school, describing them as “cut from the same cloth,” and found himself drawn to the pace, teamwork and immediate impact that surgery often entailed. Dr. Cloos, a general surgeon at Methodist Physicians Clinic - 8111 Dodge, specializes in bariatric surgery, upper gastrointestinal surgery and abdominal wall reconstruction, with a particular interest in complex hernia repair.

He values the long-term relationships he builds with his patients while working with them on weight loss, smoking cessation and lifestyle changes before surgery – and then celebrating their milestones with them after surgery.

“Seeing how much happier they are, how they get back to their hobbies and families – it’s extremely satisfying,” he said.

He describes himself as his patients’ teammate.

“I’m going to talk to you like a real person. I’m straightforward. I’m on your side. We’re going to work together for the best possible outcome.”

After losing his father and witnessing firsthand the impact of the physicians who cared for him, Dr. Cloos gained a deep appreciation for the meaningful role doctors play in the lives of their patients.

“Even if it’s my fifth hernia surgery that day, it’s never just another day for the patient. They’ll always remember you.”

Outside of work, Dr. Cloos is an avid outdoorsman. He enjoys hiking at local state parks with his wife, hunting and fishing with his in-laws, and spending time with his Great Dane.
